Man Rescued By CFD Divers After Jump In River
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was rescued from the water by Chicago Fire Department divers after he jumped into the Chicago River in the West Loop near Union Station Tuesday morning.
About 9:20 a.m., the man entered the water from the Adams Street bridge, in the 200 block of South Riverside Drive, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The man, who according to police appeared to be in his 40s, jumped into the river in an apparent suicide attempt, police said.
When CFD divers pulled him out of the water he was reportedly conscious, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
