Man Receives Shedd Aquarium Postcard 55 Years Late
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A postcard delivered a half century after it was mailed has led to a special trip to the Shedd Aquarium by a Virginia man.
As WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports, the note on the postcard addressed to Scott McMurry, 71, begins, "We'll probably be home before this gets there," the Chicago Tribune reported.

But that most assuredly was not the case. The postcard was mailed by McMurry's mother while she was on a business trip to Chicago with his father in 1957, and just arrived last week – almost 55 years later, the Tribune reported.
The postcard showed the Shedd Aquarium at the time, and was sent with a 2-cent stamp.
It arrived last week to the right house, but the wrong state. It was addressed to a house in Georgia, but was delivered a half-century late to a house in Florida, the Tribune reported.
The woman who received the postcard put a picture on Facebook, and somebody tracked down McMurry, a retired historian, the newspaper reported.
McMurry also received an expense-paid trip to Chicago, and will be visiting the Shedd Aquarium himself on Thursday.
