Man Killed In University Village Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was shot and killed early Saturday in a shooting in the University Village neighborhood on the Near Southwest Side.
Police first responded to the 1300 block of West Washburne Avenue at 12:29 a.m. after hearing shots fired in the area, according to police.
They found the man, 26, on the street with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was initially taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
Jermaine Arnold, of the 600 block of East 89th Street, was pronounced dead at Stroger at 1:20 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
No one is in custody, and police think the shooting may be gang-related, police said.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
