Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash In Washington Park
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorcyclist was killed in Washington Park on the South Side Saturday morning after he was thrown into a tree after striking a curb and losing control of his motorcycle, police said.
Just after midnight, the 42-year-old man was riding behind two other motorcyclists in the 5200 block of South Payne Drive.
His two fellow riders at one point noticed that he was no longer behind them, so they turned around and located him lying in the grass, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. Apparently the man's 1998 Honda motorcycle had struck a curb, causing the rider to lose control of it, Mirabelli said. His head struck a tree, causing serious injury.
The man was taken to the University of Chicago Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead, Mirabelli said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death and said the man was from south suburban Dolton. His identity was not immediately released.
It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol factored in the crash, police said.
