Man Killed In Harvey Coach House Fire
(STMW) -- A man was killed and another person was hurt in a fire at coach house Wednesday afternoon in south suburban Harvey.
Firefighters responded to the two-story coach house in the 15200 block of Lexington Avenue about 1 p.m. and found flames on the second floor, Harvey Fire Department Captain Ron DeYoung said.
Four people got out safely, but another man was trapped inside and died before firefighters reached him, DeYoung said.
Shawn L. Bryant, 44, who lived in the same block, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A woman who escaped the fire suffered a burned hand and was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey. The people inside may have been squatters, DeYoung said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
