The one-vehicle crash happened about 11:38 p.m. Tuesday on the freeway (I-94) near 115th Street, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Joe Stangl said.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on a ramp at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, drove onto an embankment and struck a tree, Stangl said. He is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
