Man Killed By Police In Albany Park Shootout

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police shot and killed a man overnight after he allegedly opened fire at them in the Albany Park neighborhood.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a call of shots fired in the 4900 block of North Troy Street. They chased a dark sport-utility vehicle spotted leaving the scene.

When police pulled over the vehicle near Foster and Kedzie avenues, police say a man in the car jumped out and opened fire.
Police chased the man, then shot and killed him in an alley in a shootout.
"They opened fire on the offender, chased him into an alley at 5335 N. Kedzie, where there's a gunfight taking place. The offender is dead on the scene," Chicago Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said.
The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident, police said.
No officers were hurt.
Meanwhile, another man, 19, was found shot to death in the 4900 block of Troy Street, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. He was shot in the head about 10:15 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alfaro said he could not confirm the two incidents were related, but said it was under investigation.
The Independent Police Review Authority was notified of the police-involved shooting incident but did not have any other details, spokesman Eric Muellenbach said. He confirmed a weapon was recovered at the scene.
