Death Of Man Killed By Metra Train Ruled Accidental

CHICAGO (STMW) - An autopsy Sunday determined the death of a man who was killed when a Metra train struck him in south suburban Hazel Crest was accidental.
The man, who is estimated to be in his 60s, was hit by an inbound Metra Electric District train at the Hazel Crest station shortly after midnight, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said. The station is located at Park Avenue and 170th Street, according to the Metra website.
An autopsy Sunday determined the still-unidentified man died of multiple injuries when the train struck him and his death was ruled an accident, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The man was dead on the scene.
The train -- the last inbound train of the night -- left University Park at 11:40 p.m. The incident delayed service by nearly two hours, Miller said.
