Man Injured In Building Collapse In West Pullman
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters rescued a man who was trapped when a building collapsed in the West Pullman neighborhood Monday morning.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, the man was working in a building undergoing reconstruction at 353 E. Kensington Av., when the upper walls caved in around 10:30 a.m., and the roof collapsed.
The worker was trapped under the roofing and unable to get out on his own, so firefighters had to help get him free.
Firefighters were able to get the injured man out of the building on a stretcher, placed on top of the basket of a ladder truck.
The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Fire Department. Officials said he was doing "very well."
