Man In Custody After Roommates Found Dead
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are questioning a man after his two roommates were found dead Friday night in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.
At about 9:20 p.m., police received a call from someone who said their friend was going to kill his roommates who live in the 6500 block of South Kenwood Avenue, police said, citing preliminary information.
Police said the man remained at the scene and was armed. He refused to leave the apartment, and a SWAT team and the Police Department's Hostage Barricade Terrorist Incident Unit were called in, police said.
The man eventually surrendered to police at 10 p.m. and was taken into custody, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
A male and a female were found unresponsive at the scene, Alfaro said.
Avelino Sanchez, 68, and Lori Inman, 49, both of whom lived in the home were the shooting took place, were each dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Area South detectives are investigating.
