The driver of the Chevy noticed he had hit something and that his car was damaged on the passenger side of his front windshield, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The driver turned the car around and saw a person lying on the ground, according to Kubiak. The driver then went to a fire house located on the same block as the crash to get help.
Kuzmanich, of the 11100 block of South Whipple Street, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
A witness told police Kuzmanich stumbled into traffic, Kubiak said.
The Police Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
