Man Hit After Bullet Shot Through S. Loop Condo

CHICAGO (STMW) - A resident of a South Loop condo building was charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct after allegedly handling an unregistered gun that went off, sending a bullet into the unit next door and leaving his neighbor with a graze wound.
Jonathan Hughel, 29, of the 0-99 block of East 8th Street, was charged with reckless conduct, possession of unregistered firearms and not having a valid firearm owner's identification card, all misdemeanors, police News Affairs Officer Jon Mirabelli said.
Police responded to the incident about 8:45 p.m., police said. According to dispatch reports, the exact location of the shooting was 41 E. 8th St., a 32-story condo building.
Hughel was allegedly handling the weapon when it discharged and the bullet went through the wall into the unit next door, police said. The bullet grazed a man in his 20s who lived in the adjoining residence.
Paramedics were called to treat the man, who did not suffer any serious injuries and may have even refused medical treatment, Zala said.
