Man Held On $250K Bail For Allegedly Rubbing Up Against Woman On Crowded CTA Train
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A registered sex offender was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail Saturday for allegedly rubbing up against a woman on a crowded CTA Brown Line train.
Angel Echevarria attacked the woman when the train was near the Sedgwick station on Tuesday, authorities said.
The 25-year-old woman was able to get off the train at the Merchandise Mart, where she notified CTA officials, Cook County prosecutors said.
The woman noticed Echavarria two days later at the Fullerton station and again notified CTA officials, who held the man until police arrived, prosecutors said.
Echavarria, of the 2600 block of North Harding Avenue, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
He was also charged for failing to register as a sex offender.
Echavarria has a previous conviction for sexually abusing a minor under 13.
