Man Held In Police Shooting Near Wrigley Field
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A south suburban man is being held on $125,000 bond, after allegedly trying to take a police officer's gun in the shadow of Wrigley Field.
Bond was set at $125,000 Saturday for William Miles, 50, of Glenwood, who is charged with one count of attempting to disarm a police officer, according to police.
When he identified himself as an off-duty officer, Miles hit him twice in the face and allegedly said: "I don't care of you're the mother f***ing police, I'll ice your ass" while reaching into his jacket, according to a police report.
The officer drew his service weapon and again told Miles he was a police officer, but Miles tried to disarm him forcibly by grabbing the weapon, causing it to discharge. No one was struck.
Miles was placed into custody at 11:35 p.m. at 3540 N. Clark St. and taken to Belmont Area headquarters.
