Man Charged In Lakeview Sexual Assault
UPDATED 01/14/11 8:41 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman as she walked home from a Lakeview 'L' stop four days before Christmas.
The man was in lockup at the Cook County Jail on Thursday, apparently for a parole violation, when Belmont Area detectives were able to connect his DNA to the case, according to police.
Tyrone Maxwell, 20, of the 1300 block of West Gladys Avenue, was pulled out of the Cook County Jail Thursday after DNA evidence linked him to the crime, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
Maxwell was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated robbery, according to Perez.
Perez said Maxwell, who was in jail for a unrelated parole violation, is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
According to a community alert from Belmont Area detectives, he implied that he had a gun, at which point he pushed the woman into an alley where he battered and sexually assaulted her.
Police have not specified the 'L' stop the woman had used.
