Man Gets Jail For Child Pornography
WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) - A Willowbrook man remained Friday night in DuPage County Jail, after being caught in an Internet sting operation conducted by Wheaton police.
John M. Cichon, 31, has been sentenced to six months in jail after being found guilty of a felony charge of aggravated possession of child pornography.
Cichon was convicted by Judge Robert G. Kleeman in DuPage County Circuit Court, according to court records. Kleeman on Tuesday also placed Cichon on two years of probation, ordered him to register for life as a convicted sex offender and fined him $1,000, court records indicated.
Wheaton police and members of the DuPage County Sheriff's E-Crimes Unit last year conducted an undercover investigation using the Internet that led to Cichon. He was arrested Dec. 31, 2010, after being found to be in possession of pornographic images of children under the age of 13.
A grand jury in December indicted Cichon on six child pornography-related charges. Five of those counts ultimately were dismissed.
Cichon has been in the jail since being arrested and, with day-for-day credit for good behavior, could be released soon.
