Man Gets Into Fight With State Trooper After Being Caught Walking On I-57
UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- An Illinois State Trooper found himself in an unusual situation this morning along Interstate 57 in the southern suburbs.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, the trooper saw a man walking along the expressway near Stuenkel Road, close to University Park.

State Police Sgt. Jim Powell says the trooper offered to drive the man to safety off the highway, since it illegal to walk along the highway.
But Powell says the man "became resistive, and a small scuffle ensued, and when the other officers were able to get on scene, they got him in handcuffs."
Officers from Richton Park, University Park and Monee responded along with state troopers, the Sun-Times Media Wire reported.
The 43-year-old man faces charges of aggravated battery to a police officer.
Both the trooper – whom the Sun-Times Media Wire says is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds – and the man were taken to St. James Hospital and Health Care Centers in Olympia Fields for treatment of minor injuries.
The trooper suffered cuts to his hands, while the pedestrian suffered injuries to his head and face, the wire reported.
State police say the man may have mental health issues.
