Derrick Turner, 53, of the 6100 block of South University Avenue, is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, according to a release from police News Affairs. He is scheduled to appear in bond court later Friday.
Turner was arrested Wednesday when police were conducting a missing persons investigation at his address, according to the release.
The 11-year-old girl police were seeking -- who lived blocks away in the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove -- had last been seen Saturday near West Lake Street and North Central Avenue, according to police and a missing person alert issued Tuesday.
She was found with the man in a residence at 2:27 a.m. Wednesday, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. She was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital for an evaluation, although she did not appear to be injured.
Police declined to release further details on the circumstances of Turner's arrest Friday morning.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
