Man Found Shot To Death In Zion Supermarket Parking Lot
ZION, Ill. (STMW) -- The man found shot to death in a parking in north suburban Zion on Thursday afternoon has been identified as a Waukegan resident.
The victim was found by police at 2861 Sheridan Rd. — outside the Aldi grocery store, Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd said.
He was identified as Mutassem Ahmad Abdelaziz, 23, of Eagle Ridge Dr. in Waukegan, Rudd said Friday afternoon.
Abdelaziz was shot in the head and pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Rudd said.
"We were alerted last night by Zion police," Rudd said. "It's a gunshot wound to the head. It looks like two, but we can't find a bullet to the second one."
According to a statement issued Thursday by Zion police, officers responded to calls of shots fired about 4:34 p.m. and found the victim in the front seat of a vehicle.
The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting in the investigation.
