Man Found Shot To Death In Forest Preserve Near Blue Island
BLUE ISLAND, Ill. (STMW) -- A Markham man was found shot to death Tuesday in a forest preserve near south suburban Blue Island.
A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the man's body was found decomposed in a forested area near 13800 Thornton Road in Blue Island. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:15 p.m.
The Calumet Woods, a Cook County Forest Preserve, is located just east of that area.
The man has since been identified as 38-year-old Eddie Bell, of the 16200 block of Marshfield Avenue in Markham, according to the medical examiner's office.
An autopsy Wednesday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
The Cook County Sheriff's office is investigating, but a spokesman had no comment on the death Wednesday night.
