Man Found Shot In Neck At West Englewood Gas Station
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was found shot in the neck at a gas station in the West Englewood neighborhood early Friday.
But how or where the 26-year-old was shot remains uncertain because much of the man's story does not check out, police said.
Responders went to the gas station at the corner of West 71st Street and South Ashland Avenue after a concerned citizen saw the wounded man and called authorities about 2:13 a.m., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The man initially refused medical attention, but was later taken in "stable" condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said.
The man told police he was shot outside a nightclub near West 69th and South State streets, Mirabelli said. However, no nightclub exists in that area and investigators could not find the signs of a crime scene, police said.
No one was in custody as Area South detectives were investigating.
