Man Found Murdered In Vacant Far South Side Building
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An autopsy Sunday on the body of decomposed man found in an apparent drug den Saturday night on the Far South Side determined the still-unidentified man died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Officers responded at 9:30 p.m. to an anonymous call and found the body of a man lying on the floor in the front living room of a vacant building in the 0-100 block of East 101st Place, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the man, who remains unidentified Sunday afternoon and who appeared to be in his 30s, died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.
Officers discovered a blood-stained tree branch in the building, which appeared to be used by drug abusers, Kubiak said. Police ordered the building to be boarded up.
The man's body was partially decomposed, Kubiak said.
No one was in custody Sunday morning.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
