Man Found Dead On Lakefront Bike Path
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The body of an Elgin man was found Monday morning on the lakefront bike path near North Avenue Beach.
Police believe the man committed suicide.
The 34-year-old man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Cesar Villagomez, of Elgin, was found unresponsive near the path around Lake Shore and LaSalle drives about 6:30 a.m., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Police say the man's death appears to be self-inflicted, but there was no elaboration on this conclusion.
"This does not appear to be a homicide," Mirabelli said. No foul play is suspected and police are conducting a death investigation pending results of an autopsy.
