Man Found Beaten To Death In Northwest Side Home
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was discovered beaten to death in his Northwest Side home Wednesday, and a homicide investigation is underway.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, detectives were collecting evidence both inside and outside the house in the 5300 block of North Northwest Highway in the Gladstone Park neighborhood at 5:30 a.m., after the body of Mike Justo, 56, was found in the basement of the home.
Justo's body was found around 11:24 p.m. He was unresponsive and had suffered blunt trauma to the head, police said.
The Gladstone Park neighborhood is generally a quiet area, with no homicides reported since 2008.
It is unclear who reported the murder, and police were not saying much about it as of 5:30 a.m., beyond the fact that it had happened.
The man's wife was at the scene earlier, but later left. No one was in custody as of 5:30 a.m.
Grand Central Area police detectives have launched a homicide investigation. It is not clear whether Justo's slaying was a random act of violence.
