Man Found Apparently Shot To Death Near Geneva Businesses
GENEVA, Ill. (STMW) - Police are investigating the death of a man found apparently shot behind several Geneva businesses Thursday morning.
John Blaufuss, 51, of Geneva was found unresponsive at 10:57 a.m. in the 300 block of West State Street, Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash said. He was found leaning up against a bench in a parking lot located behind State Street businesses.
Blaufuss, dressed in blue jean shorts and a flannel shirt, was found with an "unknown type of wound" with a small handgun in close proximity which appeared suspicious, Nash said.
Blaufuss was taken to the Kane County Coroner's office for an autopsy, Nash said.
She could not yet confirm whether police were investigating the death as a suicide or homicide. Nash would also not comment on whether there were any signs of a suicide at the scene.
Geneva police are investigating.
