Man Fleeing From Cops Threatened To Jump From Roof
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who shoved police and ran from officers questioning him about a stolen vehicle fled onto a Lakeview neighborhood roof, and threatened to jump before authorities convinced him to come down.
The incident started about 8 p.m. in the 800 block of West Addison Street when police officers saw a vehicle in a parking lot that had been reported stolen, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
As they approached a 21-year-old man to question him, he shoved an officer and ran, Alfaro said.
The man somehow made it onto a nearby rooftop, where he threatened to jump, authorities said.
A SWAT team was called to the scene, and the man was talked into coming down sometime before 10 p.m., officials said. He was not injured.
He is in police custody and charges are pending, Alfaro said.
