Man Fatally Stabbed In South Shore
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person of interest was in police custody Sunday morning in connection to the fatal stabbing late Saturday of a man at a family gathering at his home in the South Shore neighborhood.
The stabbing occurred about 11:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of East 73rd Street, where the victim, 32-year-old Willie Wilson, lived, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Wilson and another person got into an argument during a family gathering at the home, according to a source. The argument escalated into a physical fight, during which the other person stabbed Wilson twice, the source said.
Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:55 p.m. from a stab wound to the chest, according to the medical examiner's office.
The male offender fled but was picked up by police Sunday morning. As of about 10:30 a.m. charges were pending.
Area South detectives are investigating.
