Man Fatally Shot In East Garfield Park
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 22-year-old man was shot to death Saturday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Police responded about 1:36 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 700 block of South Francisco Avenue and found the victim dead on the scene, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.
The man had suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and face, O'Brien said.
Police did not immediately have any information on suspects or the circumstances of the shooting.
The shooting occurred about four blocks north of a shooting Friday night on the 1100 block of South Francisco. In that incident two males approached and demanded money from a 18-year-old man who was walking about 11:30 p.m., police said.
He then heard several shots and suffered a gunshot wound to the right foot. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Area North detectives are investigating both shootings.
