Man Falls Onto Blue Line Tracks
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was hospitalized early Wednesday, after accidentally falling onto the 'L' tracks in the middle of the Eisenhower Expressway.
The man fell onto the Blue Line tracks near the Kedzie-Homan stop shortly before 2 a.m. and suffered a gash to his head, a Harrison District lieutenant said.
He reportedly fell from the platform to the tracks at the Blue Line Kedzie-Homan station but did not come into contact with either a train or the electrified third rail, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.
He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.
Blue Line service was delayed for about 19 minutes while emergency officials responded, but trains were running normally again by 2:45 a.m., Hosinski said.
The incident is being classified as an accident, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
