Man Falls 3 Stories After Robbery Attempt In Auburn-Gresham
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 62-year-old man is in critical condition after falling three stories following an attempted robbery in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Tuesday night.
Police were called about a robbery in the 7700 block of South Halsted Street about 10:45 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
An unknown suspect allegedly robbed a 28-year-old man of a purse before running up the rear stairs of a building, police said.
Soon after, the 62-year-old man fell from the third floor, police said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition with a fractured skull, police said.
Police could not immediately confirm that the incidents were related.
The stolen purse was recovered at the scene, police said.
No one is in custody Wednesday morning as Area South detectives continue to investigate.
