Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge For Stabbing Prosecutor
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man accused of trying to kill a Cook County prosecutor, who tried to stop an assault on two gay men, goes to bond court on Monday.
Edgar Diaz, 21, faces a charge of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery.
According to police, Diaz and an accomplice allegedly stabbed the prosecutor when he tried to stop Diaz from arguing with the two men in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on Sept. 13.
Diaz and the other man allegedly attacked the 32-year-old prosecutor after he yelled at them in an attempt to prevent a physical attack.
They slashed or stabbed the prosecutor multiple times, including cutting his face, right side and arms, state's attorney's office spokeswoman Sally Daly said.
The unidentified victim lost a lot of blood, but suffered non life-threatening injuries.
