CHICAGO (STMW) -- An armed man who barricaded himself inside a South Shore home with a female acquaintance was taken into custody after a four-hour-long standoff with police ended Monday morning.
Officers were called to the home near 72nd Street and Coles Avenue about 1:41 a.m., after receiving reports of an armed man who was barricaded inside the home with a "female acquaintance," said police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
At about 5:48 a.m., the man exited the home and was taken into custody, police said. He was then taken to an area hospital for an evaluation, police said. The woman was unharmed.
Police said the man has not been charged with a crime, pending the findings of an investigation that is underway.
