Man Dies When Hit By Car In River North
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was dead on the scene in an alley Thursday morning after possibly falling from a building and being struck by a car in the River North neighborhood.
About 6 a.m. Thursday, police were notified of the death at 17 E. Ohio St., a Belmont Area sergeant said.
An autopsy performed Friday determined that Merrill D. Ring, 60, died of multiple injuries when a motor vehicle hit him -- possibly after he fell from a height, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The man, who lived at the nearby Tokyo Hotel, 19 E. Ohio St., was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:20 a.m., according to the spokesman.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
