Man Dies In West Side Motorcycle Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) - A West Side man is dead after the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a CTA support beam Wednesday morning in the Garfield Park neighborhood.
The 28-year-old man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Tarzan Lynch -- crashed the motorcycle he was driving into a CTA track support beam about 10 a.m. in the 100 block of North Central Park Avenue, said police News Affairs spokesman Veejay Zala, citing preliminary information.
The man was apparently switching lanes when he lost control of the bike under the Green Line tracks, which run above Lake Street, authorities said.
Lynch, of the 1000 block of North Massasoit Ave., was pronounced dead at 10:35 a.m. at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the medical examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured, police said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
