Man Dies In Apparent Backhoe Accident In Lockport Township
LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was found dead Friday after apparently being crushed by a backhoe outside his home in southwest suburban Lockport Township.
Rescue crews found the man unresponsive shortly afer noon when a neighbor called 911 after seeing the man in a yard on Renwich Road near Borio Drive, Lockport Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Paul Hertzmann said.
Hertzmann told the Herald News that the property is used as both a residence and farm for riding horses.
"We found a man pinned between the rear bucket and a raised outrigger on one side of the older machine," he said. "We don't know how long he'd been there."
Terrence E. Nawrot, 65, who lived at the Lockport Township residence, was pronounced dead at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet at 12:58 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
The Will County Sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
