Man Dies From South Side Drive-By Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 25-year-old man struck multiple times by gunfire from a drive-by shooting a few blocks from his home in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood Saturday night has died.
At 7:10 p.m., the man was in a vehicle in the 5200 block of South King Drive when another vehicle pulled up and an occupant inside opened fire, striking the victim multiple times, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The man -- identified as Lorenzo Beasley, of 5202 S. Prairie Ave., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office -- was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, in critical condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said. Beasley died at 10:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
