Man Dies From Fight At South Side Green Line Station
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Saturday after he got into a fight with another man on a South Side CTA Green Line station platform.
About 11:30 a.m., the victim, a 37-year-old man, got into a fight with another man on the platform at the CTA Green Line station on 43rd Street, which is between Calumet and Prairie avenues, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he subsequently died, O'Brien said.
Because of the fight and police investigation, CTA Green Line trains bypassed the station until about 3:30 p.m., according to CTA rider alerts.
A spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Saturday afternoon that the office has been notified of the death of a man from that location but that they could not immediately provide details on his identity.
No one was in custody as of mid-afternoon and Area Central detectives are investigating.
