Man Dies Following December Beating
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Chicago man died Tuesday, almost two months after he was beaten and hit in the head with a bottle on the South Side, authorities said.
On Dec. 22, 2012, police responded about 3:15 a.m. to the 7200 block of South Bennett Avenue and found Steven Cannon unconscious, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
Witnesses told police that Cannon, 29, got into an argument with a man and more men got involved, punching Cannon, police said. One of the men struck him in the head with a bottle, knocking him unconscious, police said.
Cannon was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with head trauma, police said.
Cannon, of the 5800 block of South King Drive, was pronounced dead at RML Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. No one is in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating.
