Man Dies After Jumping From Window To Escape Fire
CHICAGO (STMW) - A West Side man died Tuesday after jumping from a second floor window to escape a fire at his Austin home earlier this month.
Willie Harris, 42, of the 5800 block of West Lake St., jumped from his building Nov. 19 and was pronounced dead at an unidentified time Tuesday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Police said the fire started about 10:35 p.m. Nov. 19 and Harris jumped from a second floor window for his safety. He was initially hospitalized in critical condition.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, the medical examiner's office said.
