Man Dies After Having Chest Pains On O'Hare Flight
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man died after he complained of chest pains while on an American Airlines flight headed to O'Hare International Airport Thursday morning.
Kevin Malacolti, 52, was on an American Airlines flight traveling from Pittsburgh when he began having chest pains, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
American Eagle Flight No. 4363 departed Pittsburgh at 4:48 a.m. Chicago time, American spokesman Matt Miller said.
Malacolti, one of 47 passengers on the plane, became ill during the flight, Miller said.
A medical emergency was called and paramedics were waiting for the plane when it got to the gate at O'Hare at 6:14 a.m., he said.
Malacolti, of the 1600 block of Summit Drive in Pekin, was taken to Resurrection Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:52 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.
The flight from Pittsburgh to O'Hare was a direct flight and it did not need to be diverted because of the medical emergency, Miller said.
