Man Dies After Crashing Into Furniture Store
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is dead, just over a week after his car crashed into a furniture store in the Edgewater neighborhood.
The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Charles Hill, was driving a Chevrolet Impala about 12:50 a.m. Nov. 28 when it crashed into a furniture store in the 5900 block of North Clark Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
Hill, 44, of the 5600 block of North Wayne Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m. Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the medical examiner's office.
Alfaro said there was another person inside the car, who was also taken to Saint Francis, but a condition update was not available.
The Chicago Furniture Liquidators Co. takes up several storefronts on the east side of the 5900 block of North Clark Street. It occupies a long three-story brick building at the southeast corner of Clark Street and Ridge Avenue, with an official address of 5923 N. Clark St.
Although there wasn't any significant damage, city building inspectors will examine the building, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
