Man Dies After Chasing CTA Bus On West Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died after chasing a CTA bus in Austin on the West Side late Thursday, according to Chicago Police.
About 10:30 p.m., he hit the side of the bus with his hand to try and get it to stop in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, police said.
When the bus driver stopped, the man was found on the ground with injuries, police said. He came in contact with the bus, but his injuries "do not support being run over by the bus," police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man, whose age was unknown, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the fatality.
A CTA representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
CPD's Major Accident Investigation Unit is handling the case.
