Man Dies After Being Shot In South Shore
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Saturday afternoon after he was found lying in a yard with multiple gunshot wounds in the South Side South Shore neighborhood.
Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1400 block of East 76th Street about 4:50 a.m. Saturday morning and found a 31-year-old man lying in the grass with multiple gunshot wounds, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
Jason Gatewood, of 10455 S. Wentworth Ave., was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 12:47 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Witnesses told police they saw Gatewood get out of a dark-colored vehicle with two other males when one of them pulled a gun and started shooting at him, Perez said. The two males then got back into the vehicle and sped off.
No one is in custody and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
