Man Dies A Day After Back Of The Yards Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Monday night after he was shot in the head in the New City neighborhood on the South Side early Sunday.
Brandon Torres, 21, was in the backseat of a vehicle in the 1600 block of West 44th Street about 2:10 a.m. when a gunman on the street started firing into the vehicle, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Torres, of the 4700 block of South Halsted Street, was taken to John John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m. Monday, according to the medical examiner's office.
No one was in custody early Tuesday as Area Central detectives investigated.
