Man Dead, Roommate Wounded In East Lakeview Knife Fight
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is dead, and his roommate is in critical condition, after police say they stabbed each other during an argument in a quiet section of the East Lakeview neighborhood.
The men, ages 25 and 53, were involved in a violent fight in the apartment where they lived in the 600 block of West Stratford Place around 11:25 p.m.
A third roommate initially called police after he awoke to the racket of a struggle, and came out of his room to find his roommates fighting, police said. The man saw one of his roommates holding a knife, and both already looked like they had been stabbed.
Police could not immediately say what touched off the fight, but said the two men were the only people involved. Both were stabbed multiple times, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
One man, 25, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Alfaro said. The other man involved, 53, remains at Masonic in critical condition.
Stratford Place runs for a single block from Broadway to Lake Shore Drive, and is lined with dense multi-unit apartment buildings.
Area North police detectives are investigating the incident.
