Man Critically Wounded In Little Village Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 22-year-old man was critically wounded Sunday morning in a shooting in the Little Village neighborhood.
About 7:55 a.m., the man was driving in his vehicle in the 2700 block of West 24th Place when a male in a small black car pulled up alongside him and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. The victim was struck in the face and back by the gunshots, and the shooter, who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, fled in an unknown direction in his car.
The victim was able to drive away, to the 2400 block of South California Avenue, where he cried out for help in front of a building. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to police. According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, the building he sought help at may have been a church. Assumption B.V.M. church is at 2434 S. California Avenue.
No one was in custody as of about 9 a.m. and Area Central detectives are investigating.
