Man Critically Injured In Lawndale Hit-And-Run
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is in critical condition after he was struck in a hit-and-run crash Sunday morning in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.
The 50-year-old man was crossing Ogden Avenue near Pulaski Road a few minutes before 11 a.m. when he was hit by a gold or orange Pontiac four-door vehicle traveling southbound on Ogden, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
Witnesses said the car was going about 50 miles per hour and the man was thrown about 30 feet, police said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with blunt trauma, police said.
The victim, who will turn 51 years old tomorrow, is from the Northwest Side, police said.
The vehicle is described as a 2002-2004 model and likely has damage on the windshield and the passenger side, where the man was struck, police said.
