Man Critically Injured After Stepping In Front Of Train For The Second Time
EVANSTON (CBS)-- A Chicago man was critically injured when he was struck by a Metra train Sunday night at a north suburban station.
The 36-year-old man stepped in front of a southbound Metra train bound for Chicago as it approached the Central station in Evanston about 8 p.m., Evanston police spokesman Dwight Hohl said.
The UPN train departed at 8:24 p.m. from Kenosha, Wis., and was scheduled to arrive at 8:28 p.m. at Ogilive Station in Chicago.
After being struck by the train, the victim fell between the platform and outside rail, Hohl said.
He was taken in critical condition to Evanston Hospital with head injuries and minor bruises. He underwent surgery Monday for subdural hematoma.
This is the second time the same man has stepped in front of a train in Evanston, Hohl said.
