Man Critically Wounded In Shooting At Austin Gas Station
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 22-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting at a gas station in the West Side Austin neighborhood early Sunday.
The man was at a gas station in the 800 block of North Cicero Avenue about 5 a.m. when a gunshot was heard and he then fell to the ground, witnesses told police.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was listed in critical condition, Estrada said.
Police did not immediately have any additional details Sunday morning but a law enforcement source said the victim is believed to be a member of the Maniac Latin Disciples street gang.
Area North detectives are investigating.
