The car landed in the second story of a house on River Bluff Road.
Estrada was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin in very critical condition. He later was transferred to the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized by Monday afternoon, police said.
Elgin police spokeswoman Sue Olafson said the house's residents were home at the time but escaped injury, police said. However, the city code department declared the house uninhabitable until it can be repaired.
The 3,084-square-foot brick home was listed for sale at the time of the accident.
Estrada was charged with driving under the influence, disobeying a stop sign, driving without a license, having no proof of insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
